The Papua New Guinea (PNG) Coastal Fisheries Management and Development Project (CFMDP) was implemented by the PNG National Fisheries Authority (NFA) using loan finance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The Project centred on the construction of wharves and associated infrastructure to provide dedicated facilities for PNG’s growing domestic commercial fishing industry. The project included components aimed at improving the management and economic benefits that PNG derives from its fishery resources. It also provided services for building fisheries management capacity at provincial and local levels, as well as assisting NFA to further develop arrangements to support provincial and lower levels of government.
